In January 1939, Davey employees presented two matched American elm trees to
the state of Ohio in honor of Martin L. Davey, who served as governor from 1935
to 1939. The elms were planted at the main entrance to the Ohio Statehouse and
flanked the statue of William McKinley, the Ohio native who served as the 25
th
president of the United States and was assassinated in 1901.

Davey Resource Group's Valerie Locker, Ana Burns and John Kusnier (pictured left to
right) show appreciation for tree benefits in a photo booth for GreenTown at Kent at the
Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center. Davey corporate employees helped
set-up and organize the photo booth for attendees, who participated in conference activities
to learn more about creating healthy, sustainable communities. As a corporate sponsor of
the event, Davey also had some presence at several conference sessions, including "Why
Trees Matter" by the Davey Institute's Al Zelaya. Davey posted photo booth images to
the company's Twitter account, @DaveyTree, to help increase awareness about the event.
