Davey climbs new heights to demonstrate proper tree
care to zoo visitors.

ions and tigers and bears—and
giraffes, too—call the Naples Zoo at
Caribbean Gardens home. So, too,
do some Davey crewmembers whose job it
is to maintain the beauty and safety of this
tropical wildlife paradise.
Together with scientists from The Davey
Institute, crewmembers participated in
the zoo's first annual Arbor Day event with
what might be considered "wild abandon."
From manning an educational booth
outside the lion's den to scaling the massive
banyan trees, Davey spent the day giving
demonstrations, answering questions, and
providing giveaways such as bamboo pens,
sunflower seeds and Davey logo wristbands
to visitors.
Zoo visitors learned plenty about
arboriculture, tree safety, and tree care
maintenance. Of the event, Davey district
manager Dan Powell said, "It's really good
to get out and talk about trees with people.
It's always amazing, it's always fun to just
talk trees."
