Davey is proud
of its children
for the hope and joy they bring, for
their accomplishments and even just
for being themselves. Meet some
of the children who bring smiles to
Davey families.
Future Davey Employee
Lathun, 22 months old, gets all excited when
he sees the trucks and booms in which his
father, Paul Gaines, drives around with his
crew as a landscape foreman for the Cincinnati
CLS territory. Perhaps he'll be working with
Davey crews when he grows up!
Mason William Whitmire
Mason was born June 20 to Collin Whitmire
and Melinda Walker. Collin is a production
manager for The Care of Trees Crystal
Lake office.
Benjamin Wayne Petty
Benjamin was born on June 3 to Matthew
and Brooke Petty. Matt is a sales arborist at
the South Houston office.
Retirements
Bill Aitken retired after 21 years of service.
He was assistant district manager at the
Long Island office.
Before joining Davey, Aitken served in the
U.S. Navy for six years, during the Vietnam
War. In 1993, he began his Davey career as
district manager at the Long Island office.
Aitken is a past member of the President's
Council and a member of several industry
organizations.
Aitken also delivered a moving presenta-
tion on behalf of Davey during the Renewal
and Remembrance dedication at Arlington
National Cemetery.
"Those many accomplishments, while
exemplary, may just pale in comparison to a
more enduring legacy: Your personal impact
of the many fine employees mentored by you
over the years," says Jim Stief, executive vice
president of residential/commercial services,
reflecting on Aitken's Davey career.
Juanakee Hinton retired following 11 years
of service. She was a billing specialist in the
corporate office.
Steven Wegat retired following 22 years of
service. He was a supervisor on the PG&E
North Shasta account.
Douglas Worley retired following 44 years
of service. Doug started his career in 1970
as a trimmer on the Ohio Edison account.
He later held positions of foreman and
supervisor before being appointed safety
specialist in 1996 for the safety department.
In 1999 he was appointed regional
safety specialist.

In Memorium
We are saddened by the loss of Mark Stennes, who passed away on July 22. He had spent
the last eight years of his successful career working for S&S Tree until he retired in fall 2013.
Although he was instrumental in educating green industry professionals, Stennes focused
on keeping arboricultural standards high more recently. He was one of the very first to
become an ISA board certified master arborist in Minnesota.
