Emerald Ash Borer • PROBLEM: Tens of millions of American ash trees have been killed by EAB since it was first discovered in the U.S. more than 10 years ago. • CRIME: As EAB larvae feed beneath the bark of ash trees, they hinder the trees' ability to transport water and nutrients. • WHAT TO LOOK FOR: D-shaped exit holes and feeding galleries in bark, bark stripped by woodpeck- ers looking for larvae to eat, and canopy thinning and dieback from the top down.
