Employee Ownership
I
magine that if
every time you
dealt with a company
in your life—maybe
it's the cable company
or the electric com-
pany or your doctor
or dentist—you felt
valued, appreciated
and treated as if you
were the company's only client? Imagine you
were dealing directly with the owner of that
company every single time you worked with
them, and that your experience was consistently
rich and rewarding—a true royal treatment.
Think about how many people you would tell
about your positive experiences and how much
you would brag about this company to your
friends and family.
That's the kind of experience one has
when employees have an attitude of ownership.
Employee-owned companies have been
proven to have attributes that any ambitious
company would value highly, and which
translate into benefits for both the companies
themselves and their employees. In fact,
Rutgers University researchers point out the
following statistics in their recent study on
employee-owned companies:
• Employee commitment and cooperation
was strong in companies with significant
employee ownership and highest in those
with majority employee ownership.
• There was lower voluntary employee
turnover in employee-owned companies.
• Employee ownership helps the best
firms perform better.
An ownership culture is something we're
proud to have here at Davey.
In this issue of The MyDavey Bulletin, we
are kicking off an employee ownership special
section (see page 28) where we highlight all of
the possibilities employees have to get involved,
as well as provide case studies highlighting
employee ownership success stories.
Ownership is at the heart of Davey; it's the
reason many employees think of Davey as not
only a place to work but also a business to call
their own. It's MyDavey.
Feel free to share your employee ownership
stories with us at bulletin@davey.com.
