34 | July/August 2014 Davey Families 34 | July/August 2014 Davey is proud of its children for the hope and joy they bring, for their accomplishments and even just for being themselves. Meet some of the children who bring smiles to Davey families. Springing Up Many of us were more than ready for spring to arrive after the wacky winter weather we experienced this year. Blair Veitch's daughter, Erika (pictured), decided to spend the first nice day of spring sitting in a big Western red cedar tree with a copy of the MyDavey Bulletin. Clearly she was excited to spend some time exploring the outdoors! Blair is the operations vice president for Western Canada R/C. Fancy Footwork Goal! Scott Deevers' daughter Ella (pictured) scored a shot in the spotlight through her involvement with the Junior Ambassadors Football Club. AFC spotlighted Ella and her experience playing soccer in a quick YouTube video interview you can watch here: www. youtube.com/watch?v=M581uWWibmw. Ella's father, Scott, is vice president of Eastern operations, utility services. Looking the Part Last summer, Davey's Hamilton office was busy restoring power and clearing debris after a mas- sive wind storm brought the city to a standstill. Crewmembers put in extra hours to get the job done, including Assistant Manager Shawn Nixon. For at least two weeks, he saw little of his family at home, including his two sons, Blake, age 4, and Cohen, age 3. Shawn's wife, Jen, explained what daddy was doing. Once they heard the news, Blake and Cohen began picking up as many branches as they could, hoping to help their dad come home quicker. The children were so happy to be helping, Jen thought they should look the part, too. She went to a garage sale and found a used Little Tikes car. She painted and modified it to resemble a car from the Davey fleet. These are two future Davey employees who are getting a lot of experience at a very young age! Maxwell James Baker Maxwell James was born March 26 at 7.7 pounds to Thomas and Cristine Baker. Thomas is a trimmer at the Albany office. April Uribe April was born Dec. 30, 2013 to Rafael Uribe and Pilar Suarez. Rafael is a plant health care technician at the Northeast Chicago office. Adelaide Jolene Douglass Adelaide Jolene was born April 5 at 6 pounds and 13 ounces to Alicia and Joshua Douglass. Alicia is a biologist for the Davey Resource Group. Jolene Louise Woodworth Jolene Louise was born May 1 to Jon and Amanda Woodworth. Jon is a trimmer at the Albany office.
