Winter Weather Records
& Spring Forecast
T
he toughest
battle all
landscapes face is
Mother Nature.
Not even one
week into 2014, the
weather across the
U.S. and Canada
was already
breaking records.
In a phenomenon that forecasters say is
actually not all that unusual, all 50 states saw
freezing temperatures at some point in early
January. And The Weather Channel reported
more than 50 primary weather observation
sites, most of which are located in major
cities, recorded the lowest temperatures to
date. And this is after a severe ice storm in
late December that affected some regions
(check out our story from that storm on page
4). Mother Nature continued to deliver storms
throughout the winter season.
Looking ahead into spring 2014, Mother
Nature will continue to bring surprises.
The Farmers' Almanac says mid-March will
bring a wave of storminess with a wide variety
of precipitation types, as well as strong, gusty
winds, stretching almost from coast to coast.
And Global Weather Oscillations' 2014 storm
predictions are calling for severe hurricanes,
forecasting 17 named storms this year.
Whatever the weather delivers, Davey
employees' dedication to safe service and
efficient client solutions is sure to set the
company apart from the rest. Here's to a great
service season!
