26 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | September/October 2024 The Health and Safety team recently launched Learn Safe Daily on DaveyConnect. Each month, a new calendar is posted highlighting one close call or actual incident scenario per day. The close calls and incidents are tracked by Jon Schmidt, program manager, Human and Organizational Performance, health and safety department. Learn Safe Daily calendar entries include a description of what happened, what lessons can be learned, along with relevant positive comments or questions for discussion. "Positive comments recognize the courage required by an employee to bring forward a close call," Schmidt said. "People should be recognized for actively caring and for protecting one another. They are living Davey's value of safety when sharing a close call."
