For the men, Duval placed third in Aerial Rescue. "Being in the same group as Nick was great. Since we work at the same offi ce, we have a really good relationship," Duval said. "Climbing and competing together was a lot of fun." The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Tree Climbing Championships highlighted include the British Columbia, New England, New York, and Rocky Mountain Chapter competitions Davey has been involved with so far in 2024. ISA TREE CLIMBING CHAMPIONSHIPS LEADERSHIP BRITISH COLUMBIA Isaac Kilpatrick, foreman, Victoria Residential offi ce, Jason Mayorga, arborist skills trainer, health and safety department, and Arik Van Meurs, groundperson, Nanaimo Residential offi ce, competed in the British Columbia Tree Climbing Competition held at Queens Park in New Westminster, British Columbia. "I enjoyed being able to speak to so many arborists and draw from their experiences, especially since it was my fi rst time at one of these competitions," Kilpatrick said. "Everyone is really helpful by giving you as many tips and tricks as possible to see you succeed. It's a good community." For the women, Alm placed third in Aerial Rescue, second in Belayed Speed Climb, fi rst in Ascent and Throwline, and second overall; Bower placed second in Aerial Rescue and Ascent, third in Work Climb, and third overall; and Dolfi n placed second in Work Climb. "This year was my fi rst time being in a group with several other women, and that was such a great experience. I was able to watch the other Davey climbers in all their events as well as other friends I've made at past events," Alm said. "That comradery that comes with our shared experience in this industry as females is very special to me, and I'm grateful for everyone who competes in the women's category." For the men, Barnes came in second overall and won the Masters' Challenge. Hood-Recant placed second overall for the women. "I've been competing in tree climbing competitions for about 11 years," Barnes said. "Winning the championship was a big goal of mine, so that drove me to be better each time. I'd say it's the highlight of my career now."
