years, employee-ownership has allowed employees to
have a say in the company they work for, have fi nancial
inclusion in Davey's success, and overall be a part of
something bigger.
October is Employee Ownership Month. In 2024, Davey
is celebrating its history of 45 years of being an employee-
owned company.
In 1979, 114 Davey employees came together with a mix
of funds from savings accounts, personal bank loans, and
second home mortgages to acquire the company from the
Davey family and make it the employee-owned company
it is today.
Being an employee-owner means working for each other.
This allows us to refl ect not only on the many decades of
employees running the company, but also the purpose and
value it adds to the Davey legacy.
Forty-fi ve years and many more employee-owners later,
Davey is among the top ten largest employee-owned
companies in the United States according to the National
Center for Employee Ownership's 2023 report. Over the
