DAVEY AROUND THE WORLD
PUNTA CANA WEDDING GUEST
Abigirl Hamilton, office coordinator, Edmonton office,
Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited, joined
60 other guests in the celebration of her brother's
wedding in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
For eight days, the family stayed at a resort on the
beach and spent time relaxing when they weren't
engaged in wedding festivities.
"My brother got married in a gazebo right by the
ocean," Hamilton said. "The beach was reserved for
us, so you couldn't hear anyone else. Just the sound
of the waves in the background."
Despite the hot and humid temperatures, the family
had a lot of fun walking along the shore, swimming
with dolphins, and taking a party boat out onto the
water.
"For me, the highlight of this trip was getting to see
all of the family that you never get to see during the
entire year," Hamilton said. "Everyone was there,
and it was very nice."
FEELING AT HOME IN ITALY
Megan Bowers, senior project manager, corporate communications,
and Sandra Reid, vice president, corporate communications and
strategic planning, took a 10 day group tour of Italy. Doug Oster,
host of Davey's Talking Trees with Davey Tree podcast, led the tour
with his tour group.
Starting from their hotel in Montecatini Terme, Bowers and Reid
traveled by bus to different locations throughout Italy, including
Montecatini Alto, Rome, Lucca, Florence, Siena, Pisa, and Cinque
Terre.
"I love the architecture in Italy," Bowers said. "All of the cities feel
so special."
The group got to see a variety of monuments and landmarks such
as the Colosseum, the Vatican, St. Peter's Basilica, the Spanish
Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. They
further immersed themselves in Italian culture by visiting a winery
and taking a cooking class to make homemade pasta.
"This is my third time going to Italy. It's like a second home for
me after living there for so long," Bowers said, having studied
abroad in the country previously. "I'd love to go back there again."
Thanks for taking us with you, Megan and Sandra!
