Six Factors and Forces training sessions took place over
the course of three months this spring with approximately
108 employees from Davey Resource Group, Eastern Utility
services, and Residential/Commercial services in attendance.
"Factors and Forces is an excellent example of the processes
that we may do automatically but don't realize it," Jimmie
Frazier, PHC technician, Southwest Milwaukee office, said.
"It's important to be reminded of these practices so that
everyone can be safe."
The training focused on how tree biology can affect the
structural integrity of the tree. The "five factors" and the
"five forces" are used to examine the health and integrity
of a tree to determine if it's safe to climb and work on.
"There's endless knowledge when it comes to arboricul-
ture," Isabella Lemus, UVM technician, Utility Vegetation
Management services, Davey Resource Group, said. "I think
this training reinforced how much I already knew while also
FACTORS AND FORCES TRAINING REINFORCES SAFE PRACTICES
teaching me new things. It helped me gauge where I was
as an arborist, and it's exciting knowing that there's always
more room to grow."

took place over three days in Lyons,
Colorado, with 12 R/C services

ARBORIST SKILLS CLIMBING IN CONNECTICUT AND COLORADO
and a stationary rope system, arborist
climbing knot tying, equipment
inspection, rope construction and care,
the evolution of climbing systems,
and more.
"When I look at these trainings, what
really sticks out to me is the sense of
community," Jessica Orozco, trimmer,
North Denver office, said. "It's nice to
know that there are other people at
the company like me, and I can learn
from them."
