25 July/August 2024 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN Ray Betz retired May 5, 2024, following 38 years of service. Betz joined the company in 1986 as a groundperson, Carolina Power & Light account, Eastern Utility services, and was promoted to trimmer in 1987 and transferred to the Columbus office. After serving in various roles, Betz later transferred to the Charlotte office and was promoted to district manager, the role he stayed in until retirement. Jack Bloomfield retired May 4, 2024, following 48 years of service. Bloomfield joined the company in 1976 as a groundperson, Commonwealth Edison account, and was promoted to foreman in 1981, becoming supervisor a year later. After serving in various Eastern Utility roles, Bloomfield was promoted to regional vice president in 2012 and then to vice president in 2020, the role he stayed in until retirement. He is a 1990 Davey Institute of Tree Sciences graduate and a past member of the President's Council. Timothy Czarnecki retired May 1, 2024, following 42 years of service. Czarnecki joined the company in 1981 as a landscape technician, Buffalo office. After serving in various roles, he was promoted to assistant district manager in 1994, and then to district manager in 1999, before moving to sales arborist in 2000 and clerk in 2024, the role he stayed in until retirement. Philip Gibbons retired June 4, 2024, following 47 years of service. Gibbons joined the company in 1977 as a trimmer, PG&E account, Davey Tree Surgery Company. After holding various roles, he moved to PG&E North Bay account, as a field supervisor in 2006. After holding various additional positions, he moved to safety and fire patrol in 2020, where he stayed until retirement. Roy Hisler retired April 28, 2024, following 41 years of service. Hisler joined the company in 1983 as a PHC technician, Mainline Philadelphia office. After holding various roles, he became an assistant district manager and then district manager in 2019 before moving back to sales arborist in 2023, the role he stayed in until retirement. Steven Mihm retired June 1, 2024, following 28 years of service. Mihm joined the company in 1995 with Davey's acquisition of Wilhelm Tree & Lawn Care as a foreman, Denver Maintenance office. He transferred to the East Denver office in 2000, then to the Rochester office in 2005 where he stayed until retirement. Vance Nall retired May 4, 2024, following 35 years of service. Nall joined the company in 1989 as a trimmer, Florida Power & Light account, Eastern Utility, then was promoted to senior supervisor in 1999 on the Georgia Power account. After holding various roles, he was promoted to account manager in 2005, then senior account manager in 2009, and then to area manager in 2018, the role he stayed in until retirement. Vance Nall Jack Bloomfield Philip Gibbons Roy Hisler Steven Mihm Ray Betz RETIREMENTS MEMORIALS We are saddened by the loss of Ambrose Bowers, who passed away on June 17, 2024. Bowers was a GIS field technician, Utility Asset Management services, Davey Resource Group. Delbert Tunks, retiree, passed away on June 5, 2024. Tunks retired in 1993 as a special foreman, West Plains Energy account, after 45 years of service. Starting with this issue of The Bulletin, retirement announcements for employees with less than 25 years of service have moved to DaveyConnect and will be posted after mid-August.
