IN THE SPOTLIGHT Summit Metro Parks recently won an Ohio Parks and Recreation Award (OPRA) of Excellence in the Natural Resources & Conservation Category for restoring and protecting Sand Run Metro Park in Akron, Ohio. The restoration project was managed by Christina Znidarsic, senior associate consultant, Environmental Consulting services (EC), Davey Resource Group (DRG)'s team. Congratulations, DRG's EC team and Summit Metro Parks! Ronnie Reese has recently been certified as an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist ® , the highest certification level offered by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). "This credential recognizes ISA Certified Arborists ® who have reached the pinnacle of their profession," according to the ISA's website, and that "fewer than two percent of all ISA Certified Arborists ® currently hold this certification." Reese is a UVM specialist, Utility Vegetation Management services, Davey Resource Group. Congratulations, Ronnie! When did you start at Davey, and what was your role? I started at Davey in 1995 as a landscaper, primarily mowing the grass. What is your current title and responsibilities? As a foreman and crew leader, I get to oversee the crew, operate equipment including chippers, drive the trucks, and help with other things the crew needs like dragging brush. What do you like most about your job? I enjoy doing everything involving landscaping and have enjoyed becoming a leader. Who is someone at Davey who has had a significant impact on your career? Greg Wilson, our sales arborist, is a cool guy to work with. He's been with Davey a little longer than me and the rest of the crew, and I really enjoy working with him. What is your favorite music genre? I like to listen to Mexican and Italian music. I don't really have a specific artist I listen to; I just like to listen to those styles of music in general. What is something you like to do outside of Davey? I like to ride horses. It feels good to be on the horse, relaxed, and just walking along different trails.
