15 January/February 2024 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN Davey employees from across all service lines came together in Kent, Ohio for a recent Women's+ event. The three-day event was filled with networking opportunities, informational presentations, tours of the Davey Institute, Arborwear facility, and corporate office, as well as hands on learning opportunities for climbing and stretching techniques. Celia Phillips, PHC technician, Buffalo office, was excited to attend the event. "It's nice to be able to hear stories about the experiences other women have, and to learn how to grow your career as a woman in the business," Phillips said. "The climbing part was really cool," Kalette Christie, trimmer, Eastern Utility services, said. Both Christie and Anna Star Little, trimmer, said they enjoyed meeting employees from all corners of Davey. "It was good to listen to those from a variety of positions at Davey and to hear from the women who have moved up the ladder," Little said. WOMEN'S+ GROUP MEETS AT DAVEY INSTITUTE Davey hosted 108 interns from more than 64 universities and high schools in 2023 across Residential/Commercial services, Davey Resource Group Environmental Consulting and Utility Asset Management services, and the corporate office. Madie Chiari, trimmer, Buffalo office, is one of those interns and first joined Davey in 2022 for a summer internship, then returned in summer 2023 and remains a current employee. "I really like the culture of the Buffalo office and everyone I've met at Davey has been so wonderful," Chiari said. "It's a positive environment. We walk into the morning meetings and it's a great vibe, right from the start of each day. It's so awesome I get to go to work and be around trees, and around people who share an interest in trees as well."
