THE DAVEY BULLETIN
JOHN DAVEY REMEMBERED
This year marked 100 years since the
passing of John Davey in 1923, after
he had turned his namesake company
into a budding success.
In commemoration, the Bulletin has
touched on different aspects of his life
and business. In this issue, we return
to John's birthplace in England as we
wrap up our remembrance. Bulletin
contributing writer Steph Donovan
traveled to visit family in England and
made a stop at John's birthplace.
Turn to page 31 to learn about where
John Davey was born. Spoiler alert:
Not much has changed since he was
born there in 1846!
WHAT'S YOUR
SAFETY MINDSET?
Employees in Residential/Commercial
services have attended Human and
Organizational Performance trainings
organized by the health and safety
department throughout the year.
The Bulletin team talked to employees
who attended and heard some great
safety suggestions from attendees.
For Amaury Martinez, sales arborist,
South Houston office, safety is about
balance. "We're not only talking about
the negatives when someone has
a close call, we're discussing the
positive things," Martinez said.
For Josslynn Barker, sales and service
coordinator, West Denver office, safety
is about communication. "It's a daily
discussion," she said.

SEED CAMPUS PROGRESS
Construction has been moving at
a fast pace at the Davey SEED
(Science, Employee Education and
Development) Campus in Kent across
from the corporate office.
Turn to pages 14 and 15 for an update
on construction and an overview on
some of the campus' sustainability
components.

BOB ROSS PROTÉGÉ?
"I love trees ... they are one of my
favorite subjects to paint."
You might think that quote is from
Bob Ross, the oil painter who became
famous for his long-running show on
PBS that aired in the 1980s and 1990s.
Actually, that quote is from Jason
Gaskill, assistant district manager,
Wilmington office, but it's definitely
something Ross could have said.
Gaskill turned his garage into an art
studio, and painting is one of his
passions. Turn to page 27 to learn
about Jason's other interesting
art hobby.
Do you or a member of your team
have an interesting hobby? Tell us
about it! Email bulletin@davey.com
and we may feature you in an
upcoming issue.
