19 November/December 2023 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN Twelve Commercial Landscape Services (CLS) employees from the Cleveland East, Cleveland North, Cleveland West, Columbus East-Westerville, Davey SEED (Science, Employee Education and Development) Campus, Detroit Southwest, Evergreens Cemetery, Richmond, and San Francisco territories took part in the Turfgrass Summit at the Davey Institute. Led by Zane Raudenbush, turfgrass and herbicide specialist, Davey Institute, the training is a three-day event focused on learning about turfgrass identification, soil health, weed con- trol, irrigation and fertilizing strategies, and best practices for installing turfgrass in both hands-on and classroom settings. Peyton Flasco, production manager, Cleveland West territory, said he really liked getting to see the plots of turf that have been planted at the developing Davey SEED Campus. "One of the main reasons I joined Davey is because continu- ous education is available," Flasco said. Josh Wilson, project manager, Evergreens Cemetery territo- ry, felt the training was motivating and educational. "It was really nice to see that we're actively doing research and creating products in the area of turf to better benefit our clients," Wilson said.
