9 November/December 2023 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN At the start of his workday, Elton Minor, vegetation management inspector, PG&E North Valley transmission account, DRG Pacific Services, LLC, checked in to ResourceKeeper's Loneworker app, a proprietary Davey software, to record his location in the MyROWKeeper system. Part of his daily routine, Minor was heading out to inspect trees and vegetation on a 115-kV transmission line in Platina, California. At the end of the workday, Minor attempted to leave the site, but found his truck was stuck in the ice. Due to the remote area, there was no cell service. Meanwhile Kane Trobitz, UVM lead specialist, was holding the team's safety briefing at the end of the day and noticed Minor had not yet arrived at the office and had not received Minor's end-of-day check-in via the Loneworker app. Minor's phone was going straight to voicemail. Trobitz, along with vegetation management inspector Ethan Minor, who is Elton's brother, drove to the location to investigate. When they neared the area, Elton was honking his horn. "It was a moment of relief. We were so glad he was okay and healthy. We towed Elton's truck out of the ice and mud, and everyone made it out safely," Trobitz said.
