This summer's Planting the SEED
program was held at the Davey
Institute over three days with a focus
on supporting Eastern Utility services
managers within their leadership roles.
The program was created by Eastern
Utility to help attendees learn to be
better leaders and to create connec-
tions for their future.
Dana Shanabarger, general foreman,
NIPSCO account, said the program
allows for many unique team
building and networking exercises
to help participants get out of their
comfort zones.
"I think it's a good program, especially
for new leaders getting into the field
to teach them more about their own
management style and help them be
the best manager they can be,"
Shanabarger said.

learning on safety, horticulture, and
leadership skills. The group also toured
the corporate office and Davey SEED
(Science, Employee Education and
Development) Campus, and attended
the Davey Nursery's 60th anniversary,
where they celebrated together by
planting trees.
Milo Archuleta, project manager,
