28 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | September/October 2023 Jay Benbo retired July 31, 2023, following 46 years of service. Benbo joined Davey in 2012 with the acquisition of S&S Wood Waste Recycling, as an assistant district manager. He was promoted to production manager in 2015 and transferred to the Twin Cities Wood Products office in 2016. In 2018, he transferred to the South St. Paul shop and remained in that role until his retirement. Kevin Crowe retired July 10, 2023, following 31 years of service. Crowe joined Davey in 1992 as a general foreman, West Penn Power account, and was promoted to supervisor in 2000. Crowe transferred to the Public Service Electric & Gas account as a general foreman in 2003. Later that year, he was promoted to supervisor. Crowe was promoted to account manager in 2005, overseeing FirstEnergy accounts in Pennsylvania, and remained in that role until retirement. Dave Goerig retired July 1, 2023, following 10 years of service. Goerig was a senior associate consultant, Davey Resource Group, Environmental Consulting services. Boyd Moore retired August 12, 2023, following 38 years of service. Moore joined Davey in 1984 as a shop supervisor, Kent shop, and stayed in that role for the entirety of his career. Dave Nelson retired July 1, 2023, following 35 years of service. Nelson joined Davey in 2008 with the acquisition of The Care of Trees, as a sales arborist with the North Austin office. He transferred to the East Bay office in 2010 and remained there until retirement. Vannak Pen retired July 3, 2023, following 19 years of service. Pen was a landscape technician, Richmond office. Emil Stahli retired July 1, 2023, following 45 years of service. Stahli started his Davey career as a cost accountant, accounting, corporate office, in 1978. In 1980, he was promoted to supervisor, then to financial analyst in 1983. In 1984, he became a department manager before being promoted to assistant controller in 1985. Stahli then became a financial planning and risk analyst in 1997, then became financial and controlling functional team lead in 1998 for the SAP implementation project. In 2000, he was promoted to controller, Davey Tree Surgery Company. In 2010, Stahli was promoted to vice president, Surgery Company, and remained in that role until retirement. Jay Benbo Kevin Crowe RETIREMENTS MEMORIALS We are saddened by the loss of Rick Burger, who passed away on August 19, 2023. Burger was a supervisor, NIPSCO account. We are saddened by the loss of Tyson Crowder, who passed away on August 11, 2023. Crowder was a trimmer at Cortese Tree Specialists, a Davey company. Boyd Moore Emil Stahli Charles Gilbert, retiree, passed away on April 28, 2023. Gilbert retired in 2014 as a foreman on the PG&E Sierra account after 8 years of service. We are saddened by the loss of Antonia Hernández, who passed away on September 18, 2023. Hernández was a landscape technician, Ave Maria territory, Commercial Landscape Services. Alex Schrecengost, retiree, passed away on July 2, 2023. Schrecengost retired in 2022 as a maintenance mechanic from the Chantilly/Dulles Shop after 19 years of service.
