24 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | July/August 2023 Board of directors retiree Sandra Werth Harbrecht Ratchford passed away on June 18, 2023, at the age of 73. Harbrecht retired in 2021 following 12 years of service on the Davey Company board of directors. She served on the audit, compensation and governance committees, of which she was chair for the two years leading up to her retirement. In addition to her work with Davey, Harbrecht made many contributions as a leader and educator in the public relations and academia fields. "Sandy was one of the most thoughtful, committed and engaging board members that we have ever had on the Davey board," said Davey Chairman, President and CEO Pat Covey. "She was a tremendous leader, facilitator and champion of employee ownership and the Davey Company. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her husband Robin and her family in their time of loss." Francisco Almanza retired April 20, 2023, following 31 years of service. Almanza started his Davey career as a landscaper, North Virginia office. He served in various roles before transferring to the Alexandria territory in 2013 as a landscape technician, where he served the rest of his career. Keith Culbertson retired May 9, 2023, following 33 years of service. Culbertson started his Davey career as a foreman, Columbus office. He was then promoted to S&S technician in 2004. In 2018, Culbertson transferred to the West Columbus office before transferring back to the Columbus office the same year, where he served the rest of his career. Kathleen Vranek retired May 28, 2023, following 18 years of service. Vranek was a sales arborist, West Chicago office. Robert Warren retired May 20, 2023, following 41 years of service. Warren started his Davey career in 1981 as an injection foreman, PG&E Chico account. He served in various roles in utility services for the Davey Tree Surgery Company before being promoted to work planner in 2021. Later that year, Warren transferred to Davey Resource Group as a UVM senior specialist and stayed in that role until retirement. Keith Culbertson Robert Warren RETIREMENTS MEMORIALS Rick Colburn, retiree, passed away on May 4, 2023. Colburn retired in 2016 as a sales arborist with the North Atlanta office after 29 years of service. We are saddened by the loss of Nathaniel Cotton, who passed away on June 22, 2023. Cotton was a UVM technician, Davey Resource Group (DRG), Utility Vegetation Management services. We are saddened by the loss of Steven Doller, who passed away May 8, 2023. Doller was a landscape foreman at the Cincinnati office. Retiree Murray Linton passed away on June 2, 2023, at the age of 87. Linton retired in 1998 as district manager of the Toronto office after 45 years of service. He first joined the Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited., in 1953. In 1963, he became an assistant district manager, Eastern Ontario Residential office, before being promoted in 1971 to district manager, Toronto Residential office, a position he held for 27 years. Linton became one of the original employee owners when he took part in the first stock subscription in 1979, enabling the purchase of the company from the Davey family. He was then chosen to be a charter member of the Davey President's Council in 1988. Mark Meador, retiree, passed away on April 10, 2022. Meador retired in 2016 as an environmental scientist, Davey Resource Group (DRG), after 42 years of service. We are saddened by the loss of Shelia Pulley, who passed away April 7, 2023.
