10 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | January/February 2023 VISION Davey partnered with the Cleveland Cavaliers to make Northeast Ohio greener by planting a tree for every 3-point shot made during the 2021-22 season. The Cavs ended the season with 953 3-point shots, totaling 953 Trees for Threes. In autumn, 345 trees were distributed to 20 local community organizations at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse kick-off event. Two tree planting events were held in partnership with the Cleveland Metroparks in November. Davey and Cavs volunteers planted a mix of 30 buckeye and swamp white oak trees at Brookside Reservation, part of the Cleveland Metroparks system. In November, Davey and the Cleveland Charge, part of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) G League, planted a mix of 60 buckeye, Kentucky coffee, swamp white oak, and serviceberry trees at West Creek Reservation, another Cleveland Metroparks location. Additional fall plantings totaled 120 trees planted throughout the Cleveland Metroparks. The Girl Scouts of North East Ohio (GSNEO) and the Great Trail Council Boy Scouts of America (BSA) received more than 400 donated trees, including educational information about tree planting and care. SAFETY COLLABORATIVE RESCUE TRAINING Lake Bluff offi ce crews joined local fi refi ghters for a second annual aerial rescue training day at Adler Memorial Park in Libertyville, Illinois. The idea for the training began when Jason Austin, sales and service coordinator, Lake Bluff offi ce, contacted the local fi re department in Libertyville, Illinois, to ask if they had a rescue manikin available for a training day. He reached a member of the fi re department's high-angle rescue team, who suggested a joint training with their teams. "Over the past two years we've had approximately 75 to 100 fi refi ghters from surrounding communities and high-angle teams join the event from Lake and McHenry counties in Illinois, and Kenosha county in Wisconsin," Austin said. Austin added that it was a great day of training. "We were able to set up multiple scenarios that were challenging to both our newest and our more seasoned employees," Austin said.
