A SEASON FOR GIVING THANKS
It's the holiday season, and the end
of the year offers us an opportunity
to slow down, spend time with friends
and family and reflect on all we are
thankful for this year.
And there is much to be thankful for.
Take a moment and ponder the
question, what are you thankful for?
We posed that question to Davey
Chairman, President and CEO Pat
Covey, who shares his thoughts on
gratitude for this year on page 4.
HOLIDAY GREETINGS
Davey retiree George Gaumer sends
us his family's warm holiday greetings,
which we shared via the cover photo
of this issue of the Bulletin.
Gaumer was on a hike with his wife
and friends following a fresh snowfall
when he spotted this lone pine tree.
"There were many spectacular scenes
that morning, but this young pine
really caught my eye," Gaumer said.
"It seemed to display perfect form and
symmetry. The lighting and shadows
were just right. We decided it will be
our 2022 Christmas card photo but we
are happy to share it with fellow Davey
tree lovers."
Thank you, George, for helping us get
in the holiday spirit by giving us a peek
at your Christmas card!
STORM SEASON
'Tis the season, and not just for the
holidays. This fall during the Atlantic
hurricane season, Davey crews
responded to several severe storms
on the East Coast.
Our storm response started with
Hurricane Ian, which struck Florida as
a category 4 storm in late September.
Over 400 Davey employees from all
four service lines traveled to support
hundreds of Davey crews already
helping clients brace for the storm.
Turn to page 8 to read about how
we rallied together to help Floridians
recover from Ian's devastation.
Just a few weeks later, Hurricane
Fiona struck Nova Scotia as a post-
tropical cyclone. Halifax bore the brunt
of the storm, which knocked out power
to thousands. Crews from The Davey
Tree Expert Company of Canada, Ltd.,
spent several weeks helping to
restore power and clean up debris.
Turn to page 7 to read about Davey
Canada's response to Fiona.
And in early November, hundreds
of employees again hit the road for
Florida when Hurricane Nicole struck
as a category 1 storm. That response
was under way as we were wrapping
up this issue of the Bulletin, so stay
tuned for coverage of Nicole.
