OUR EMPLOYEES ARE NATURE LOVERS If you love the photo on the cover of this issue of the Bulletin, you have a fellow employee to thank for transporting us to this mesmerizing location. In our March/April issue, we asked employees and retirees to share cover-worthy photos with us. And you all responded beautifully. Maryanne Hoffer, client experience coordinator, North West Seattle office, shared her photo of daffodils from this spring. They grow near the tulip fields in the Skagit Valley of northwest Washington. This area is well known for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, held each year in April, which draws flower fans for the 30-day event to view tulips in bloom throughout the region. Thank you, Maryanne, for a great shot! Thank you also to our other employees and retirees who have submitted photos for our cover-photo contest so far. Watch for future Bulletin covers in upcoming issues from these Davey folks below. The submission deadline was June 1. • Mark "Billy" Aszman, trimmer, Cincinnati office • George Gaumer, retiree • Jim Sienkiewicz, project manager, Davey Resource Group DAVEY EMPLOYEES GIVE BACK In true Davey fashion, employees from across the company took time in their respective communities to celebrate Arbor Day this year. This year marked the 150th anniversary of the holiday. We celebrated by planting trees, giving away trees, teaching people about the wondrous benefits of trees, and generally showing our communities how we can make them better just by caring for and growing their tree canopy. Turn to page 14 to see some of the ways our employees gave back to their communities to celebrate Arbor Day this year. DAVEY EMPLOYEES ARE COLLABORATORS Whether joining forces to plant trees, or pooling their resources on a single project, Davey employees from all of our services work cooperatively each day around the continent to serve our clients. Turn to page 8 to read just a few examples of how Davey employees collaborate. DAVEY EMPLOYEES ARE FAMILY Our company history is rich with examples of family members working with each other for Davey. Whether it's fathers and sons, sisters and brothers, or mothers and daughters, there are many stories of one family member joining another to become part of the "Davey family." Do you work together with a family member? Tell us about it. Send an email to bulletin@davey.com, and we might feature your family story in an upcoming issue. Matt Fredmonsky ROOT OF THE ISSUE
