GROWING EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP
Davey continues to extend our historic
employee-ownership legacy, as the
company will offer its fifth stock

this year.
Davey Chairman, President and CEO
Pat Covey shares his view on stock
subscriptions on page 4 and explains
why he has participated in past stock
subscriptions during his career.
For additional details on this year's
planned stock subscription, including
the current share price, enrollment
eligibility and more, turn to page 29.
SHOW US YOUR 2022
ARBOR DAY GOOD WORK
This year, Arbor Day is shaping up
to look a little different than it has in
the past two years.
First, 2022 marks the 150th
anniversary of the holding of the
first National Arbor Day. J. Sterling
Morton, a newspaper editor in
Nebraska, first proposed an Arbor Day
holiday in January 1872, and the first
official Arbor Day was celebrated in
April of that year with an estimated 1
million trees planted across the state.
Nebraska's governor officially
proclaimed Arbor Day a state holiday
two years later, and by 1920 more
than 45 U.S. states and territories
observed this holiday celebrating trees.
Second, in many locations restrictions
on gathering have eased, and that
means many of us can get together
again to plant and care for trees this
Arbor Day.
We want to see how you and your
Davey colleagues celebrate this
historic Arbor Day 2022 with your
communities. Whether it's a tree
planting event, a tree care lesson,
a volunteer landscape care day or
something different, we want to know
what you do this year to celebrate
every arborist's favorite holiday.
Our recent survey of Bulletin readers
showed that we love to read about
local Davey offices and operations.
So, what better way to hear about
Davey and its coast-to-coast, North
American operations than by hearing
about what you did for Arbor Day?
Send your Arbor Day story ideas
via email to bulletin@davey.com or
call 800-447-1667 ext. 8615 and tell
us about it!
