This podcast features experts, industry professionals and enthusiasts with horticultural, ecological and landscape gardening knowledge. During Julius' episode, she discussed "Arboreal Climbing Athletics." The episode focused on helping listeners understand the athletics and technical requirements of professional tree climbing. Julius is an employee development and safety training specialist, Davey Institute. Thank you for sharing your tree climbing expertise, Alex! Jeremiah Fitzgerald placed first in the Cleveland Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 24. He crossed the finish line with a time of 2:25:53. A marathon is 26.2 miles. Fitzgerald also placed first in the Akron Half Marathon on Saturday, Sept. 25, in Akron, Ohio. His time was 1:08:03. A half marathon is 13.1 miles. Fitzgerald is a utility systems specialist, Davey Resource Group, Utility Asset Management. Congratulations Jeremiah! Manuel Lizama received a civilian award from the Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery for his 26 years of hard work and dedication to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Lizama received a certificate, coin and a flag that was flown at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The certificate reads, "In honor of the Unknown, this flag was flown by the Soldiers who guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and presented to Manuel Lizama." This is the first time this award has been given to a civilian worker. Lizama is an equipment operator for the Arlington National Cemetery Commercial Landscape Services territory. Congratulations, Manuel, on receiving this honor! Joe Tommasi received the Utility Arborist Association's (UAA) Lifetime Achievement Award. Joe was honored at the Trees & Utilities Conference, a partnership of UAA and the Arbor Day Foundation, in Minneapolis in October. This award is presented to a person who has achieved many milestones during their career. Joe retired as vice president of corporate safety in August. Thank you, Joe, for your dedicated safety leadership. Congratulations! Kenyatta S. Beverly was recognized as a Top 100 Under 50 Executive and Emerging Leader in Corporate America and Organizations by Diversity MBA Media. Beverly was honored at Diversity MBA's 15th Annual National Business Leaders Virtual Conference & Awards Gala, entitled "Reimagine the Future: Lean into Possibilities." Beverly is Labor and Employment Counsel in Davey's corporate legal department. Congratulations Kenyatta! Dr. Dan Herms spoke during The Ohio State University's College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences "Time and Change" Alumni Webinar Series. The theme of the session was "High Tech Careers in Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Industries." Herms is the vice president of research and development, Davey Institute.
