29 September/October 2021 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN Anne Fenkner, project developer, Davey Resource Group, Environmental Consulting, received the Award of Commendation from the Western Chapter International Society of Arboriculture (WCISA). The Award of Commendation is given to no more than "two individuals, organizations, firms or other entities in recognition of an outstanding effort in promoting the purpose of the WCISA," according to the WCISA. Congratulations Anne! Davey Resource Group's (DRG) Northern Ohio Engineering services team received a 2020 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Ohio's Engineering Excellence Award for the Redwood Apartment Neighborhood Project on Ridgewood Road in Copley Township, Ohio. Redwood Apartment Neighborhoods hired DRG to complete the land development and site planning for a 100-unit apartment development situated on 58 acres. Maintaining positive ecological benefits drove several of the project objectives. DRG was able to reduce wetland disturbance to less than 0.5 acres of existing wetland within the property and left 40 acres of the property undisturbed. They successfully met all objectives for this property and presented designs that adhered to the site's needs and client's vision for the project. "This award represents multiple positives," said Travis Crane, area manager, DRG. "But most of all, it illustrates how the DRG engineering and surveying team always works to make our clients' success our number one goal for every project." Congratulations to everyone involved in this project! IN THE SPOTLIGHT Don Roppolo (left), manager of arboricultural training, Davey Institute, received a 2020-2021 University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) College of Natural Resources (CNR) External Award. Roppolo was awarded the CNR Outstanding Contributor Award. "The true honor in receiving this reward is the opportunity I have had to influence students' lives and careers, most importantly encouraging them to form good safety habits from the start," Roppolo said. Congratulations, Don! Jessika Mitchell, coordinator, Davey Resource Group GIS/IT Support Services, received the Young Professional Award from the Western Chapter International Society of Arboriculture (WCISA). The Young Professional Award is given to someone who has been an International Society of Arboriculture credential holder for less than 10 years and "recognizes outstanding efforts that advance the principles of the WCISA," according to the WCISA. Congratulations, Jessika! Davey's New Jersey Residential/ Commercial (R/C) office was chosen by Horticultural Asset Management (HMI) as an Authorized Member from the second quarter of 2021. The office received this distinction because they were instrumental in helping HMI with storm-related work, and they were impressed by the office's responsiveness, the upload times for documents and the close rates. Jason Reitter, district manager, pictured, also has assisted HMI with other consultation work. "We primarily focus on selling the leads they bring to us and deliver quick and safe services to their clients," Reitter said. Congratulations to the entire New Jersey team! Davey retiree Ken Christensen received a 2021 Environmental Conservation Award for Environmental Stewardship from the Portage Park District. Christensen was honored with the award at the 23rd Annual Environmental Conservation Awards Benefit and celebration of the Portage Park District's 30th anniversary. Congratulations, Ken!
