3 May/June 2021 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN SAFETY INTEGRITY EXPERTISE LEADERSHIP STEWARDSHIP PERSEVERANCE VISION MISSION MISSION We exceed client expectations. LEADERSHIP We take purposeful action toward our collective success. PERSEVERANCE We create solutions to overcome challenges. INTEGRITY We are honest and truthful in all we do. SAFETY We protect and care for each other. EXPERTISE We use science and knowledge to master our craft. VISION We create and deliver sustainable solutions. STEWARDSHIP We make the world around us better. THE VALUE OF ARBOR DAY Ask and you shall receive. In the last Bulletin issue, we called for you to share with us your Arbor Day celebrations. And you did. We heard from operations spanning from Washington east to Connecticut, south to Florida, west to California and everywhere in between. Every service line chimed in to share at least one story about how our employees gave back to their communities – all in the name of trees. Thank you! Thank you for sharing your stories and reminding us all why we are here. Every Bulletin issue serves to remind us what our company Mission, Vision and Values are through individual stories and why they are worth living every day. But Arbor Day provides a unique opportunity to show how a single event can encompass, and live up to, each of our core values. As many Arbor Day stories as we tell in this issue, there are certainly many more. Take a small glimpse at what is assuredly Davey's gargantuan effort at service on Arbor Day 2021 on pages 8-10 of this issue of the Bulletin. And for our Canadian employees who may have celebrated Arbor Week in April or may have plans for National Forest Week in September, remember to share your stories with us at bulletin@davey.com. NO EFFORT TOO SMALL At Davey we love to celebrate the breadth of our capabilities – and for good reason. Several of the stories in this issue highlight the breadth of our expertise and how we can apply it in service to our clients. "Daffodil Hill" on page 12 talks about how volunteers from across the company helped a committed client restore a beautiful cornerstone of their landscape. "Safer Rail Crossings" showcases how Davey Canada employees from three separate service lines pull together to address a countrywide issue that applies to millions of citizens. Like so many success stories we hear about at Davey, these projects involved considerable amounts of time and resources – deservedly so. But don't forget that the small victories are just as important – and just as worth sharing. "A Snowy Lift Up" on page 19 tells the story of an employee who was about to leave a work area when a nearby resident called out for help in an emergency. We share that story of Integrity because one Davey employee's effort to live our values is just as worth telling. Share your stories of how you live Davey's values every day with us. Email your story ideas to bulletin@davey.com or call 800-447-1667 ext. 8615. Matt Fredmonsky ROOT OF THE ISSUE
