25 November/December 2020 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN John Jastrzembski, sales representative, Mid-Atlantic R/C Operating Group, was reappointed by Governor of Maryland Lawrence Joseph Hogan, Jr., to serve on the Maryland Agriculture and Resource Based Industrial Development Corporation (MARBIDCO). Jastrzembski serves as vice chairman of the board of directors. The board strives to improve the sustainability of Maryland's agriculture, forestry and seafood businesses and the viability of the rural working landscape. Congratulations, John! Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company (WSSI), was named the Best Land Consultant at the Van Metre Homes' virtual trade partner meeting. Van Metre Homes has been a client of WSSI's since 1991, which is when WSSI was founded. Congratulations! Davey Resource Group's 500 plus California native trees planted at the Bear Hollow Stormwater Basin project won the Project of the Year award in the Environmental Category from the American Public Works Association (APWA) Sacramento Chapter. Lori Murphy, associate consultant, DRG, said this was a team effort with the city of Rancho Cordova, California. This project created shade for a popular walk/bike trail. The new trees' roots will absorb stormwater and help slow the rate of water traveling into the basin. Project partner Sacramento Tree Foundation, a local non-profit, organized volunteer planting and will care for the trees for three years, at which time the trees will become the city's responsibility. "We're all very proud of this project," Murphy said. "There was a lot of competition for this award and for us to win it was a real feather in our cap." Congratulations! Joe Paul, executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been appointed to the Robin Autopilot board of directors. Robin Autopilot USA is a leader in the growing North American robotic mower and lawn maintenance market. Congratulations, Joe! Tim Walsh, director, corporate safety, has been elected vice president of the Utility Arborist Association's (UAA) board of directors. He will serve a three-year term. Congrats, Tim! Johnny Wilson, retiree, received the Utility Arborist Association (UAA) Silver Shield Award this year. This award is presented to frontline safety workers who influence and promote a safety culture. Wilson recently retired as manager, field safety support. Congrats, Johnny! Sandra Reid, vice president, corporate communications and strategic planning administration, was honored with a Women of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio (GSNEO). This award recognizes women in Northeast Ohio who go above and beyond to make their communities a better place to live, work and raise a family. The award recipients embody the core values of the Girl Scouts and are positive role models for girls. Congratulations, Sandee! Tom Wolf, vice president, sales and client relations, Davey Resource Group utility vegetation management, was honored with the Utility Arborist Association's (UAA) Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is presented to a person who has reached many milestones during their career as a utility arborist.
