These new badge graphics will indicate when a story is about a topic that is connected to that larger program. The three badges and companywide initiatives they represent are: • The Davey Strategic Plan: Vision 2030 • Davey's Corporate Responsibility Report • Davey Green Leaders If the story talks about a project created through the Vision 2030 process, it will get a badge. If a story features outstanding community volunteer efforts through Green Leaders, it will get a badge. The same applies to Corporate Responsibility topics. Our goal is to help employees see and understand ongoing, tangible results of these companywide programs. The first badge appears on page 4 in our "Ask the CEO" column by Davey Chairman, President and CEO Pat Covey. Look for more in this and future issues. STAY CONNECTED WITH 'DAVEYCONNECT' This summer, Davey rolled out a new smartphone app, "DaveyConnect," allowing employees to receive real- time company news and updates. The app is rolling out to employees in phases, but DaveyConnect will soon be available to all employees. Read about DaveyConnect on page 8. HURRICANE ISAIAS Davey crews helped communities recover from Hurricane Isaias in August. Employees from Utility services, Residential/Commercial (R/C) services, and Davey Resource Group worked tirelessly, in some cases for weeks on end, helping clients sort through the storm damage. Jason Parker, district manager, North Philadelphia R/C office, said this storm seemed to cause an unusually high volume of structural damage incidents. "We had customers who told us they called a dozen places, and we were the only ones to even call them back," he said. "Davey's office structure and the way we're set up with CECs who can work remotely, handle that kind of call volume and get it to the arborists while they're on the road, and our ability to be efficiently mobile as a team lets us provide our clients with a high level of service in these situations." Read about Isaias on pages 10-12. END OF AN ERA In 2020, Davey officially retired The Care of Trees, a Davey company (TCOT) brand. Davey and TCOT merged in 2008, and by then TCOT had enjoyed a long and prominent history in the arboriculture industry dating back to 1945. As of this year, all TCOT R/C offices are now officially Davey branded. To celebrate TCOT history, this issue highlights key personnel who joined Davey through TCOT. Read their stories on pages 30-31. Matt Fredmonsky ROOT OF THE ISSUE
