THE DAVEY BULLETIN
Davey was recognized as a civilian
participant when Joint Base Charleston
in South Carolina was awarded the
2019 Air Mobility Command (AMC)
Civil Engineer award. This award marks
the fifth time the Hunt community has
been awarded the Brigadier General
Michael A. McAuliffe Award for
ousing Excellence.
"We take a lot of pride in helping our
military families," said Blane Pshigoda,
vice president of operations, CLS, West
and South Regions. "We become a
part of the community and our work
takes a burden off their shoulders."
That sense of community is
exemplified by Davey's VIP sponsorship
of the annual Hunt Heroes Foundation
DAVEY CLS GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR MILITARY CLIENTS
EASLEY ACCOUNT NEARS 2,100 DAYS INCIDENT-FREE
Congratulations to the crews on the City of Easley account
in South Carolina for an incredible safety milestone. They
reached over 2,000 days without an OSHA recordable
incident this year and have tracked the days on a sign
outside their gated yard.
When Dean Cannady, supervisor, moved from the
powerhouse safety streak crews on the Newberry Electric
Cooperative account a year ago, he came with a decade
of safety experience. But coming to small-town Easley, with
a crew of only seven on the account, he said there's really
no difference.
"These guys all know each other personally and look out for
each other. When they notice an issue, they have no prob-
lem calling an all stop to check for situational awareness,"
Cannady said.
Any secrets to their success? "We pace ourselves," he said.
"Keep a calm demeanor. Use common sense." They also
take a teaching method where everyone learns the skills the
same way for consistency across the crew, and if someone
notices a problem it's corrected immediately.

event, held in Nashville, Tennessee,
which supports the efforts of the
Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers
Foundation. The organization provides
housing and other services to active
duty service members who are
critically injured or families who have
lost loved ones in the military. Davey
made a sponsorship donation as part
of the partnership to support the
Hunt Military Family Housing event.
Since 2007, when Davey began its
relationship with Hunt Military Family
Housing, Commercial Landscape
Services (CLS) has worked on several
military bases and been a sponsor
of the Tunnel to Towers and other
scholarship opportunities.
