Arborguard Tree Specialists, a Davey
company, was named a Community
Crusader by Gwinnet Clean &
Beautiful, a nonprofit that works
to keep Gwinnet County, Georgia,
beautiful and sustainably focused.
Jamie Blackburn, district manager,
had agreed to complete some
volunteer work during the slower
winter months, so a small Arborguard
crew spent a full day at Simpsonwood
Park cutting down dense privet thicket
along the activity fields. Jonathan
McNeil, assistant district manager,
said when he went for the initial

"Normal privet grows 1 to 3 inches in
diameter. This stuff was 3 to 5 inches
thick and covered in Wisteria vine,"
McNeil said. "Privet is an invasive
shrub, so work like this is important for
the community because it helps both
with controlling spread and adds to
the beautification of the park."

The Davey President's Council welcomed four new
members for 2020.
New members include Brian Baker, market manager, San
Francisco Bay Area, Residential/Commercial (R/C); David
Miller, operations manager, Texas and Oklahoma, Davey Tree
Surgery Company (Surgery Company); Mike Perri, regional
manager, Ontario Utility, Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada,
Limited (Canada); and Rob Toney, regional operations
manager, UVM Pacific Region, Davey Resource Group (DRG).
The group joins current members Adam Cervin, district
manager, R/C Needham office; Anna Davis, director, corporate
human resources administration; Chris Heim, district
manager, R/C Atlanta office; Darran Malcolm, operations
vice president, Eastern Utility and National Railroad, Canada;

Luis Miramontes, account manager, Southern California
Edison, Surgery Company; Frank Monteleone, national sales
manager, Commercial Landscape Services; Johnny Page,
operations manager, Gulf region, Eastern Utility; and
Karen Wise, vice president, environmental consulting, DRG.
Typically, council members serve three-year terms and meet
twice annually in June and October. However, due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, all 12 members will serve four-year
terms with no in-person meetings this year.
Council members sit on various committees, which brainstorm
and research new ideas related to the company's operations
and present them to the council for review. The council,
which reports to Davey Chairman, President and CEO
Pat Covey, then passes many such ideas on to Davey
management for further development or implementation.
