CLIMBING ADVENTURE
Kim Ball, operations administrator,
R/C services, and her husband
Jeff celebrated their 25th wedding
anniversary in Europe.
They began their silver anniversary
trip with a few days in Paris before
sailing on a Mediterranean cruise.
Ball packed her Davey Bulletin
on their adventure.
Their stop in Eze, France, a small
village atop a mountain on the
French Riviera, offered breathtaking
panoramic views of Monte Carlo,
Paul Smith and his daughter Lucia
Cheney embarked on a three day
climb to the summit of West Peak
in the Bigelow Range in Western
Maine. West Peak is one of many
peaks along the Appalachian Trail
in Maine.
Smith is a PHC technician in the
Hartney Greymont Needham office.
In the spirit of ultralight packing
for this hike, Smith packed only
the outer cover of the Davey
Monaco, and Villefranche,
France. The old village of Eze
is only accessable on foot
through narrow passageways
and tight stairwells.
"At the highest point of the
old town sits a beautiful
exotic garden where the views
make it worth the trip," Ball said.
A trip by a Davey employee wouldn't
be complete without a spectacular
tree sighting. During their stop in
Messina, Italy, they stumbled upon

a large banyon tree in one of the
many city parks.
"It was just huge, so it caught my
eye," Ball said.
Bulletin, so he could take this great
photo with his daughter.
"The most memorable part of the
trip was the incredible views from
on top of the ridge leading to the
peak and the 360-degree views from
the peak itself," Smith said. "We had
a blast that weekend."
Smith and his daughter are planning
their next mountain climbing trip
for mid-September.
