7 May/June 2020 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN 6 9. DISTILLING HAND SANITIZER: JASON FAWCETT A Davey client switched from distilling bourbon and vodka to making hand sanitizer and provided the disinfectant to Davey operations throughout the East Coast. Davey's Jason Fawcett, operations manager, South Atlantic R/C operating group, has partnered with Tarnished Truth Distilling Company, which provided an initial order of hand sanitizer that was distributed to Davey Commercial Landscape Services territories and R/C offices along the Eastern U.S. The partnership is one way to help keep our employees safe as cleaning supplies are in high demand. 6. SOCIAL DISTANCING MEETING: DRG SDG&E During morning meetings, Davey Resource Group crew members on the San Diego Gas and Electric account practice social distancing and wear personal protective equipment, including new Davey-issued face coverings, even during the rain. Battling the elements and preventing infection from the coronavirus are top concerns in the field, said Vince Mikulanis, market manager, Davey Resource Group. 7. DOING HERO WORK: VICTORIA OFFICE The show, or work rather, must go on. Amidst the pandemic and following strict health guidelines, crews from Davey's Victoria office in British Columbia, Canada, removed a tree from the Kiwanis Family Centre. The request came from longtime Davey client HeroWork, a charity that helps other charities. Groundmen Bradyn Villebrun and Ben Fudge carried out the work. 7 8 9 8. MAKESHIFT HOSPITAL: WEST CLEVELAND CLS Vito Monteleone, branch manager, and the West Cleveland CLS team moved 28 trees so the Cleveland Clinic could create a temporary hospital in The Sheila and Eric Samson Pavilion (part of the new Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic Health Education Campus) in response to the pandemic. It took only 12 hours for Monteleone, Eddie Hill, Steven Hovan, Ed Yambor and Angel Sanchez to remove, package and transport the trees from an indoor atrium into another climate-controlled area without damaging the building.
