DAVEY SHINES AT TOUCH-A-TRUCKS
ACROSS NORTH AMERICA
For Davey offices, touch-a-truck events are sometimes the best way for crews
to meet with local community members, let kids sit in a truck, honk a horn and
experience the arboriculture industry. Sometimes those events even help raise
funds for a good cause, such as local hospitals or teen centers. And in some
cases, Davey even matches donated funds to double the impact.
"It is important to be involved in the community that we work in and help give
back where we can," said Dale Schvaneveldt, assistant district manager, East Bay
office. "My favorite part of these events is seeing the kids light up as they see
our bucket in action. They always have such pure and genuine reactions and
always mention how we have the coolest truck on display."
Above right: "Touch-a-trucks are great
exposure of Davey culture to the community.
And seeing the kids' smiles when they sit behind
the wheel is my favorite part," said Chris Heim,
district manager, Atlanta office.
"Everyone in this area knows someone who
has benefited from the hospital, and that's
why it's so easy to give our time for an event
like this," said Mike Gray, district manager,
Toronto West office.

you're making children happy even if it's
just to honk a horn in a big green truck.
My favorite part of the volunteer event
is teaching all the kids, and even their
parents, about the truck. I get to share my
knowledge with them about the work we
do in the community," said Aaron Selig,
groundman, Cambridge Hydro account.
