THE DAVEY BULLETIN
TEAM WORK, PARTNERSHIPS
PART OF DAVEY CULTURE
Matt
Fredmonsky
A tree is an interesting study in
team work.
Think about it. No single leaf or root
could carry the load alone that is
required to build the kinds of arboreal
giants we so admire.
Rather, it takes many leaves, roots
and branches – all working together –
to deliver the sort of beautiful result
like you'll find on page 20 of this issue,
where we detail Davey's commitment
to work alongside the Summit
Metro Parks to care for a historic
landmark tree.
There are yet more examples of similar
collaborative projects within this issue.
You'll learn how Davey partnered
with the TREE Fund to create a
$250,000 educational endowment
fund to support scientific research
on urban tree care issues and
community-based education.
You can read about how the Davey
Institute partnered with the Cleveland
Metroparks to study ways to counter
the mysterious beech leaf disease.
There's also a story about how
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc.,
a Davey company, employees worked
together with a non-profit educational
training group to raise awareness of
tree preservation among professionals
in the construction industry.
And several Residential/Commercial
offices partnered with local groups to
improve park landscapes within
their communities.
But examples of wonderful
partnerships in this Bulletin aren't
limited to external entities. There
are several stories showcasing how,
internally, Davey teams work together
– just like the many leaves and roots
of a mature tree.
You can read about how several
teams within Davey Resource Group
together developed a solution to help
a client in Montana calculate the many
benefits of urban forests across Big
Sky Country.
Numerous departments worked
together to launch the inaugural
Davey Institute of Utility Sciences.
That spirit of camaraderie mirrored
the multi-faceted efforts, spanning
several service lines and departments,
reflected in Davey's presence at
both the International Society of
Arboriculture Annual Conference and
Trade Show and the International
Tree Climbing Championship.
There's no shortage of examples
showing the willingness of Davey
employees to work together with their
coworkers, clients and community
members to build something better.
If your Davey crew has an example
that fits this mold of team work and
partnerships, tell us! Send your
collaboration stories via email to

ROOT OF THE ISSUE
"
I believe that, for me,
the Davey culture is
family oriented. Once
you start to work for
Davey, they treat you
like family. And that's
what I try to instill in
the employees I work
with, is that we are
family. You help me,
I help you. The best
way to treat people is
how you'd want to be
treated, like family.
