THE DAVEY BULLETIN
"
I have been an
employee owner since
1992. After working
for the company for
seven years I knew
Davey was a well-
established corporation
that was continually
growing. At that point,
I felt it was a good
opportunity for me
to become part of the
stock purchase plan
for my own future and
my family's. It's nice
knowing as an
employee-owned
company that we are
all working towards the
same goal, the future
of our company.

WHAT YOU'LL FIND INSIDE IS AT
THE CORE OF WHAT WE DO

In this issue you're going to read a lot
about safety. Why? Because it's one
of our core company values. Safety is
something we should never need to
be reminded about because it should
be automatic – like tying your shoes
or grabbing your phone before you
leave home.
First and foremost, this issue of
The Bulletin has a special insert. The
2017 Safety Honor Road list is included
within this issue as a separate
publication. Gently tear it out for a
keepsake. The front and back covers
of the 2017 Safety Honor Road are a
"wordy" safety illustration that you'll
be seeing more of, including on Davey's
social media accounts, in the future.
Not enough safety for you? Wait,
there's more! In this issue we highlight
the diligent, careful work of the
Newberry Electric Cooperative
account crews that have reached an
outstanding 3,000-plus incident free
work days. This is a significant safety
milestone that merits recognition.
We also highlight some of the nearby
crews that are chasing some big-
number safety streaks of their own.
But wait, there's still more! We share
an innovative safety reminder idea
from Wolf Tree, Inc., a Davey company,
and we talk to a newly minted
Certified Treecare Safety Professional,
who achieved this certification thanks
to an exclusive workshop hosted by
the Davey Tree Surgery Company.
ARBOR DAY STORIES
This year's coverage of Arbor
Day events has changed. For The
Bulletin, we selected just a handful
of Arbor Day stories from around
the continent. More than a dozen
additional Arbor Day stories from
the field are now being featured in
the Davey Corporate Responsibility
Report, which you can find online
at https://responsibility.davey.com.
You'll find the select few Arbor Day
related stories in this issue under
the "Community Roots" label.
LEADERSHIP AND FAMILY
There are a lot more great stories
inside, many of which highlight the
prominent role Davey employees
play as leaders in their community
and industry and also how Davey is
one big family.
The Tree Care Industry Association's
accreditation council visited our
corporate campus. Four new Davey
employees join the Davey President's
Council. And we have a conversation
about how Davey is planning for our
planet's changing climate.
The family coverage in this issue
includes how Davey children see our
company, the family legacy of a long-
time Davey employee, and making a
client's grandchild feel like they're part
of the Davey family for a day.
